2018
Starting off the year with NUS HackNRoll hackathon, before flying back to NZ for the next semester.
Normally I take weeks to construct my writings, piece by piece, before finally publishing them, if ever. But today, I feel the need to write without a care. I have three hours left before I’m leaving for the transport centre, where I will take a 2 hour bus ride to Auckland airport, followed by an almost 18 hour long trip (including transfers) by plane back to Singapore.
Started Kendo early in the year.
As I sit here in my room, I’m reminiscing the past year I’ve had. I’ll be honest, it has been a fantastic year in terms of all the tangible successes. I’ve gotten straight As in all my classes. My passion for computer science and languages has never been higher. I genuinely enjoy learning, gaining new skills. A feeling I haven’t had since primary school. Nothing feels like work, truly. I’ve learned to live independently. I’ve been practicing Kendo for almost a year now. I decided to learn yet another language. All in all, it has been a particularly productive year.
Visited Victoria University in Wellington for the NZLingSoc Conference
Yet it all feels very pointless. Very little, if anything, from my life 10 years ago matters to me today. Who’s to say it won’t be the same 10 years from now? Yes, the knowledge I’ve gained, the skills I’ve learned will most likely stay with me for as long as I live them.
I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m going to take it one step at a time.
But for now, I’ll look forward to spending some time with my family.
Back home with my dearest. Finally.
